From beginning to end, I was looking forward to Dar Cherifa our whole trip. The ambiance is something special -- a building from the 15th century, the oldest restaurant in Morocco is a sight to behold. The food is special. The service is equally special. You feel like you are royalty when sitting in this establishment. We enjoyed mocktails, camel kefta, chicken tajine, and Sikouk (semolina / orange blossom dessert) along with saffron creme brulee. Highly recommended. There are many fine eating establishments in Marrekech -- but Dar Cherifa is not one to be missed! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience !
The place is absolutely stunning, very historical and beautiful. Unfortunately, as it was a coolish day and the seating is in the inner courtyard, I was a bit cold. I ate the vegetable tagine and it was all right, but compared to the other ones I've had in Morocco, this one was the least flavorful. My husband had the chicken pastilla and enjoyed it. The crême brulée was small, very liquidy and the crust unevenly browned and the taste also not very flavorful, biggest disappointment of the evening, maybe this was just a bad batch and it's usually better (?). After reading other reviews, I had hoped for more, especially with the quite steep prices. It's a beautiful place but I wouldn't go again.
What a gem! We’re so glad that we heard about Dar Cherifa on our visit to Marrakech. Hidden away down the back streets, once inside it’s truly breathtaking. Absolutely beautiful building. Service was outstanding and the food was simply delicious. We found the prices to be very reasonable too. We went for lunch so we experienced the sunlight streaming down around us, which created a tranquil & serene atmosphere however we’re sure that the ambience of an evening visit would be truly magical! We asked if we could go upstairs to look at the roof terrace. Along the way was the most incredible view of the restaurant area. We recommend 100% & would certainly go back.
Linner (we went at 5 pm) at Dar Cherifa was such a beautiful experience — truly one of the best meals we had on our trip to Marrakech. Our server, Osama, was incredible. Polite helpful and kind. He even took us up to the roof and shared the history of the building, explaining that it’s a restored 16th-century house with many original architectural details. The food was absolutely delicious —very very flavorful, and very homemade. We tried the lamb tagine, chicken with lemon, camel kebabs, beef and couscous, and a few sides, and everything was fantastic. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was amazing — a very cool Moroccan vibe (soooo “boho,” is actually authentically Moroccan)... From beginning to end, we felt so welcome. The history from Osama, the hospitality, and the food made this restaurant special. Highly recommended — and we would happily come back on our next trip!
Very kind service staff and the space was beautiful! I will say while the food was tasty we did have better Morrococan food in many other spots BUT you’re paying for the beautiful fine dining atmosphere and service. Service started super slow and then picked up. Portions are small so you can try more. We loved the fried sambusa platter to start. The camel meatballs are a gimmick, not spectacular but it provides a great story to tell friends. On the gamey side. The lamb tagine was a standout, yum!! So tender and flavorful. The tarte atatin was underwhelming. No alcohol is served here but there are tasty mocktails. Tables and chairs are so low so tall diners like us, heads up! Hidden beyond the chaos in the center of the Medina, very mysterious:)
